GCP culture is a mixed bag, I've noticed that a good amount of seniors joining in from consulting try to bring the culture with them and its a drastic difference to how Google actually operates
Chief
That the new person was trying to manage us if we were big box consultants and not googlers. I also said that it was not their fault as they had not been properly taught / mentored the Google way to manage people.

Google Cloud has two different cultures.
Culture #1 = seen in our Sales org. Long hours, pushy, escalate / complain, etc.
Culture #2 = seen in PSO / operations. Be nice people, very supportive. Growth is done together.
Tk is bringing more accountability to the organization. How we go about being accountable is what is being figured out (see cultures above).

@g2 - huh?
I have worked in GBO (Ad sales) and Cloud Sales. Prefer the Cloud culture and mission 10x.
GBO is very political, sometimes feels more focused on fighting social issues vs the actual job of selling/solving customer problems, spend weeks doing Perf reviews vs focused on actually performing/selling, skills you learn aren’t super applicable outside of google from a tech sales perspective, and v challenging to move up (ex: when I was in GBO my manager had been there 8 years, his manager has been there 11 years and his manager had been there 15 years; hard to move up in that scenario)
Cloud sales is disorganized, and too many of the FSR’s aren’t very skilled sales reps, but it’s a good org and the culture is strong. The reps and organization will improve with time, good people, awesome products, pretty googley culture, people are hustling to win biz, learn valuable enterprise sales skills in product areas that increase your value (AI, big data, ML, Analytics) exciting to be a part of a growing business, and joint mission to become the cloud leader.
Google Cloud is a 4-5 year org ( yeah app engine was there before and so are the old timers) so culture really is evolving.. large push to improve sales team was done 3 years back, products and solutions are being verticlized, significant investment in Customer success in past 2 years and now significant push to improve delivery capabilities.
So essentially org and culture is being built.. at same time.. hard to say how much will it be same as Google
Do you mean shaking things up in a bad sense ? What are some examples of TK ‘shaking things up’ which may dent the company stock ?
Thanks for the perspective. Are you in customer engineering then ?
You bet. I’m an FSR - field sales rep. Room to improve on the CE side too which I also think will happen in time.
Folks, I've couple of verbal offers. One from GCP for L5 & another from Accenture L5 (SM level, D title). Both are enterprise cloud sales roles. While from brand standpoint, Google is a clear winner - but have heard some bad culture related stuff, unattainable quota, new reps get tail end of accounts & cant meet commit/consumption targets etc.
Initial indication is that GCP TC will around ~350K while Accenture will be closer to 400K. The role with Accenture looks better in terms of visibility, expanse and decision making..
Expecting offers this week. Any guidance will be highly appreciated
Use the Accenture offer to increase your google offer, if you want to sell products vs services/reselling.
enterprise sales has a 6-12 month ramp. If anyone tells you less they’re either not selling enterprise or lying. At google you get 1. Signing bonus, 2. First 3 months of commission at quota and 4. RSU’s to pad you.
