Honestly, I would do both. I always had better luck applying directly on the firms website, however, a recruiter can be helpful as well. There is no harm in doing both.
There’s a firm I’m really interested in that I learned about through a recruiter who offered to pitch me, but they didn’t mention whether they’ve ever placed anyone there. The firm has an in house recruiter listed on its website, and I’m thinking of contacting them to ask whether they use outside recruiters. I want to maximize my chances without ruffling feathers, if I can.
Are you a class of 2025 associate? If so, apply directly. If class of 2024, a recruiter will be helpful.
Got it. A recruiter should be able to help.
I would do both. And if you can network with anyone from the firm, e.g. through alumni, mutual connections, etc that’s even better.
