Have you seen the layoff reports recently? You take what you can get and hunker down.
This is grim but unfortunately true.
Best way to increase your salary/earning potential is to seek jobs with higher pay. Job hopping for this in small increments will look like you're not worth a company's investment. Figure out what you want to do long term and seek roles with equal to higher pay to help get you the skill set you need.
I stayed at the same company with no room to ever negotiate compensation for 10+ years now. My salary doubled finally by year 11. I'm now moving on to the next step and I just increased my salary by 40%. As someone above said. Make a calculated move if you are focused on career progression and overall earning potential.
Yeah I always thought this was better, just didn’t know if people had managed it by staying at the same place.

There is nothing wrong with making the jump if you are prepared for the additional responsibilities it involves. With that being said, this is not the market I would be taking any kind of risks in. You don't want to be the new, high-paid employee at a time where layoffs are happening by the thousands.
Yeah now might not be the best time, maybe I’ll hold out.
If you meet the requirements and think you have a reasonable chance at getting the offer, go for it. At worst you'll be out the time it took you to submit an application and maybe attend an interview.
