Is it normal to keep interviewing at places even after you’ve accepted a (mediocre) offer? In the past once I got a job I was done, but after experiencing being let go and struggling to find a job for months in the market, suddenly I’m receiving interview requests and can’t help but want to accept them just to see what my options are. While I am excited about my new job, it isn’t my dream role and I do wonder if I’ll do well there long-term (acknowledging this could also be trauma talking).

Keep interviewing. I did that once. Got into a much better firm. However, the better firm did not work out for me.

Sometimes it’s the toxic firms/partners that are also desperate.

I would never have accepted a mediocre offer unless I was desperate. I would keep interviewing with the understanding that I’ll need to burn the bridge if I get a better offer.

It doesn’t hurt to keep your options open and see what else is out there. I accepted a job and was supposed to start on a Monday, when I did one last interview the Friday before and landed my dream job with a much higher salary. It was uncomfortable to have to renig on the first offer, but I’m so happy I did. You don’t need to settle. Do what is best for you.

About to turn down a job offer that would nearly double my salary after speaking to several former associates of the firm and hearing some not so great things. The word “sweatshop” was used multiple times yet I am still having a hard time wrapping my head around it. This is truly “you can’t pay me enough to be part of that” in action. I am betting that I can get the same money at a place with a better culture - hopefully I am right!

The people at the small firm are so nice, but hours are nuts and if I’m going to work this much, I might as well get paid more, right? Is it too soon? How do you tell them when the managing partner took you under his wing?
