Always do this! "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush." You don't want to cost yourself an opportunity by holding out for a dream job. Best case scenario, you get that offer and have to have an awkward conversation with your new boss. It won't be a lot of fun, but it's worth burning the bridge for a better opportunity.

It’s smart to secure a role while waiting. If your dream job comes through, you can just be honest about your situation.
If you got an offer, and you needed a job, you did the right thing by accepting it. Waiting to hear from someplace else is generally a bad strategy, you could wind up at the end of that exercise with nothing at all. You could always back out of the job if the other one comes through, though that can be awkward. And depending on the circumstances it could damage your reputation.

You should always prioritize yourself first so it’s good that you are doing this. I would encourage everyone to look out for themselves
There should be no hesitation whatsoever, nor guilt if you get the job you really want. Never forget two things, first and most importantly, you. Employees fire people or separate without thinking twice about it to save a buck or even worse because of somebody feeling some type of way, don't have pity for the gunman. 2nd is also you. Look, the offer you have in your back pocket, they gave you because they want to pay you money, keep that line open. Just when u creepin' keep it on the downlizo. The company got you, even tentatively, they'll take it, they are not foreign the twitchy index. If the dream job slides in on your DM, then say, here take this wine, what your interests be and off to the telly to show your belly B-I-G. When you get to the top, there will always be people nipping at your shoes, at least you keep em clean. Do yah thing boy, I got nuthin' but love for ya.
