Absolutely, if you become a partner you will be living a life of luxury! People usually become partners in 12-18 years. You can do it! Public accounting is a great start to your career.
KPMG1 I believe average partner comp, across all CPA firms in US, is in top 1% in US. How is that not a life of luxury?
Accounting is known for its stability and growth opportunities. It's a field that is always in demand, as every business needs accountants to manage finances. If you choose to pursue a CPA, you can consider transitioning into industry after about two to three years. In a high-cost-of-living area, your salary could potentially reach around $100,000. With minimal student loans, this sets you up for a solid middle-class lifestyle by the time you're about 25 years old. From there, your career and salary are likely to continue growing, providing a strong foundation for long-term financial stability and success.
AI much?
Yeah for sure, accounting can definitely be a solid, stable path to a middle-class life, especially with a CPA. It’s not flashy, but it pays well, has good job security, and offers room to grow. If you’re okay with the work, it’s a reliable way to afford a decent life with some luxuries. I have friends who wish they would have chosen something boring and reliable like me lol.
