I tried cheap ones from Amazon. Expensive, second hand gaming chairs. Tried HM Aeron (second hand) and while I didn't like the bulk and the general design, I was sold on the mesh seating. I wanted to get the ErgoChair 2 from autonomous, but it doesn't have mesh seat.

Exactly what I did with my previous employer. 1.5%, 2% and 2% raises in three years while being labeled a top performer. New hires were starting out with a base 20k greater than mine, but they never acknowledged that.
Turn out the promotion I would have gotten would have been a 3% base raise. Congrats. Still ass.
I’m sorry this sucks, a lot of us have been there in our careers. My one piece of advice is have the hard conversation with your supervisor or talent lead about why. It may just be someone got the slot instead of you but then understand what put them in front

My friend did that - 40k extra and promo in the space of three weeks. Plus she is much more assertive at her new job.

The worst part about this is one day you too will be telling someone, "maybe next cycle." Maybe then you will understand.
Hopefully the OP never treats someone else like this and instead is honest about their prospects for promotion and relative performance so that these sort of discussion don’t come as a surprise.
