CPA/ACCA for accounting focused career paths. (e.g. accountant, auditor)
CFA for finance focused career paths (e.g. portfolio management, corporate finance, valuations, IB, PE, etc.)
Del1,
I disagree. At some point, each quality designation has value add. Especially if you cone across as intelligent and not just adding mediocre designations. Once you have a CFA, CFP or CPA are easy. The accounting on the CPA is far easier than the accounting tested on the CPA exams for example.
I would agree with you if the individual is struggling to pass each designation. I took a few weekends in a row to pass the CPA exams, but before that I was already well versed in the concepts except government accounting. There is no set rule.
As a plus, constant curiosity is a huge interview plus. Not to mention the ability to admit there are still items to learn even after decades of employment.
