I think it’s nice they care that people attend instead of just checking a box. I think it’s fine to give away a prize that both celebrates black culture but also appeals to a wide enough population not to feel like they are pandering. I think you guys are WAY over thinking this. Attend the damn event and move on

Maybe they should have incentivised with a different film’s tickets, then been called out for insensitivity during this month?
I got the same email and thought that it was very respectful and I appreciated the effort from a holding company as large as ours.
@edelman 1 - yes people have the right to act freely - but it comes with the responsibility to ensure that others have equal freedom - so I think people do have a responsibility to attend empowerment events like this even though they have the freedom not to

My office had the ticket give away but you just had to answer a test. No requirement to go to a presentation and I didn’t even get an invite for one. Bummed I didn’t win the tix though, looks like an awesome movie
I wasn’t in the office, so I didn’t go. I wasn’t sure if it was good or bad. My gut was who cares. But the creatives around me were talking about it like it was dumb. I wanted an opinion. Thanks for the replies!

Or don’t attend because you can do whatever you want to do since we are afforded the right to do so. You could do as I do and prioritize time spent on billable projects and delivery to clients, and fill in extracurriculars accordingly. we all make decisions to become educated on any type of information thereby enabling us to be free thinkers and better people.
That is not even an incentive. People would attend this event solely for the chance to win a movie ticket? Really? Sad if true.
