Also interested. When is it appropriate to ask about WLB? Not very interested in roles with crazy hours and feel it would save everyone time if that information was revealed early in the process, however understand how asking too early / directly may come off as being lazy
Not sure there's much in the way of WLB in PE, but hopefully you'll find that unicorn. Just ask early on so you don't waste your time or theirs.

That’s a good way to get yourself out of the process.. just look at their current platform investments relative to the timeline of the acquisitions and amount of people at the firm.. if you see for an LMM firm 1 investment per principal/vP/SA/a (aka team) every 6 months then it’s likely a decent WLB from a PE perspective.. with busy periods and down time… that being said.. if you’re concerned about WLB this is likely not a career for you and I’d reconsider your path.
Can you find former employees on LinkedIn and ask them?
I recommend:
1. Asking about weekend work and expectations
2. Asking when IC is and when materials are shared. I know some firms have weekly IC on Sunday morning which kills the whole weekend
3. Ask to speak to Associates / juniors who you are not interviewing with. Bear in mind they’ll probably point you to the best ones / those having the best experience. Ask them about hours and predictability
4. If you’re getting along with the interviewer and it’s a later round, ask how many Partners are married, which is a quantifiable metric. This might sound weird but it really isn’t, especially if you preface it well (legally employers cannot ask about your marriage status but I believe interviewees can about the firm)
5. Check LinkedIn and Glassdoor for average tenure - there should be a summary
