I came from a startup, and while the experience was good I don’t know that I’d do it again. The bump is nice but don’t jump ship just because everyone else is. What’s the reason outside of money that’s making you consider leaving?

The type of work is not particularly enjoyable and i don’t feel like I’m learning technical skills that I am interested in. If i stay with B4, have an opportunity to continue to develop technical skills by joining a new practice at the cost of lower pay, promotion path etc

It doesn’t have to be at lower pay. Give them a chance to counter their offer, big 4 are all hiring like crazy and if you’re solid they’ll want to retain you. I may be biased, but I would seek opportunity doing what you’re interested in within your firm or at a different B4. Maybe take a year to learn a new skill set and transfer it out. But the biggest mistake people make is not giving their current firm to counter, especially if there’s avenues available for other roles.

A friend gave me a referral to a big tech company and a recruiter contacted shortly with a prep doc containing info on what to prep on, the interview format, what type of questions, etc. Before reviewing the prep doc, I confirmed my interest and booked a call but now I feel I am not ready yet although I really want the job. I want to apply after 6 months. What can I do to skip the interview without jeopardizing my future chances?? Please help!

(First ever post) I originally I joined this app to learn from others in consulting on a variety of topics (gender perspectives, comp, tips/ recommendations). Ever since downloading, I see more hatred and people making judgements on others with little context. Consultants are supposed to problem solvers but instead of people sharing perspectives I feel I’m back on Twitter reading threads that only create hate. Anyone else feel that way?

It’s been nearly 7 years since I’ve interviewed. Came to my firm right out of college. Getting back into it after all this time. For the first two companies I’ve spoken to, I’ve spent nearly 6 hours a piece on just the interviews themselves. Is this normal these days? I hate to complain but it seems like a big time commitment, especially since nothing is guaranteed. I also understand it’s my choice to put myself thru the misery 😬 - just looking for some insight on what you’ve experienced.

Cyber: EY vs Accenture - which do you think will give me better exit ops when up for Manager (2-3yrs)? Accenture seems very ahead of the game when it comes to tech, but im also trying to get less hands-on implementation and more into strategy and selling, which seems like it might align more with EY. These are just gut feelings tho, would like input from people in the know.

Exit opportunity suggestions for a tax manager? I currently earn $100K, but specialize in small to medium sized businesses in a smaller metro area. With zero experience in audit/internal control/GAAP/SEC/SOX/finance, I don’t see how I could possibly land a six figure position in industry (even remote positions from metros that pay more). With my health off the rails after nearly a decade in public accounting, I’m honestly starting to look even at positions in the $70s. Suggestions welcome.

I looked at SHRM's "Inclusive Workplace Culture Specialty Credential" and got a bit of "sticker shock" at the cost - $1,655.00 for members. Does anyone have other suggestions on training/credentialing in this area?
