People who have transitioned from consulting to industry or an objectively less demanding role (i.e working 40-45 hrs a week), what makes you feel good about your decision? After a decade in client services, I’m reaching a breaking point and can’t see consulting being sustainable with a young family. I’ve worked in PA for almost 2yr and have got my CPA. However, there are times when I feel like my brain is so slow when understanding client’s JE flow esp when it comes to accrual/reserve and where manual AJEs are involved etc. I feel like understanding accounting in the context of audit is different from doing the actual corporate accounting. My partner and I bought our home back in 2020. We got a good deal, low rate. But we want to move into a more spacious SFH. However, as we all know this market is crazy. Everything we want costs $620k+ and bc of rates it makes our mortgage estimates $3500+. We are currently paying $2k.
