In fairness, not everyone in consulting was born with a silver spoon up their bottom. Some worked hard to get there and didn't have mommy and daddy paying their bills...
Great question, I used to feel the same. But at some point emergencies, family stuff, personal all adds up - can never expect these and especially at my level it is hard.
Nasty coke habit? Addiction to hookers? Inability to do expenses on time? Lots of ways.
I have $30k CC debt. Not that hard to do with dependent family early in career
Enter your credit card into GIMS. It should t matter but it's the safe way to approach it.
What's GIMS?
It's the system you use to record your assets and holdings. If you are below manager it doesn't really matter at all. Manager and above need to enter shit into GIMS. You should be able to find it on mydeloitte

Honestly how does one even get into credit card debt on consulting salaries? Even with student loans to pay off seems like that would be difficult.

If you're an analyst you are fine. General rule for independence on credit cards is keep under 5k balance - only applies to manager and up.
Wow D2 reeks of privilege. It's ok to have debt OP. I would highly recommend finding a card that lets you transfer the balance with a 12-18 month promotional 0% APR and pay it off within that time frame.
I "had" $50k. Bonus took a chunk out
