This is 100% me, a few times. The first time I was a 'prn' (as needed) clinical person. I went in to work, did a great job, didn't get involved in gossip etc...I was working 2-3 days per week...I was approached for a DIRECTOR job, which I took and it totally elevated my career path. Were other people I worked with pissed about it? Yes, but they had also been there for years and spent a lot of time stirring up gossip, short cutting procedures, just being unreliable in general, and leadership noticed. I spent 2 years there. I faced a lot of obstacles, and had to deal with a lot of awful personalities, but I learned so much from it. From there I went into another leadership role.
Fantastic! Good share …I’m happy good things happen to deserving people.

You cannot manufacture luck or chance so be open, aware, and work very very hard - someone will eventually notice.
I got very lucky in my last company which resulted in multiple promotions in a very short amount of time. If you are good at what you do, I'd recommend keeping an eye on industries/companies/organizations going through periods of growth (i.e new products need to be developed, significant investments are being made in certain areas). And if you can align your skill set to those new areas, and you are good at what you do, you might be able to accelerate your career. Also be mindful of your network and creating relationships, getting visibility, and showing people what you're capable of.
Even though the job market is tough right now, its actually booming for people with specific skillsets in generative ai engineering, data science, etc. I think the luck part is being able to anticipate what the next big thing is and being prepared (education, experience, etc) for when it comes...
