Got messaged by a C3 . ai recruiter. Read that wlb is bad and that the interview process is absurdly long, but the Glassdoor reviews are 4.2 and can't find actual hours worked posted by anyone. How's the culture really? I'd be aiming for DS consulting, something more functional but with DS/ML concepts as my differentiator.

Yes it happens
I don't travel frequently but one of the managers on my project is on the road for workshops more/less every other month. I also know a Director who has traveled weekly for the past few months - so it happens but not across the board which, I assume, is the underlying question you're asking.
I won't say rainmakers but they've had no issue keeping the team staffed on various engagements despite market fluctuations. And I think travel is always client dependent and some clients just have relatively frequent strings of workshops for which they like to have support with them.

Yup some projects are doing weekly travel. My team travels to client or co-locates 1-2x a month as the expectation.

For me in particular. But it’s not everyone.
