Having stayed few years outside india, I can give my realistic opinion.
1. good pollution free env ,organised mode of transport nd in other stuffs. But I feel sometimes too much strictness, discipline is involved which we Indians are not used to.
2. Healthcare facility is free but only for PR and citizens. For visa holders , you need to pay hefty medical insurance as medical stuffs are very costly there. Long waiting queue is there for specialist unlike in India.
3. Wlb is better. No long working hours. You can leave office at 5 pm. Again onsite ppl are given too much work by the clients sometimes.
4. It becomes very dull in winters. It gets dark at 4 pm . Life gets very boring. Also, in US,Canada etc ,snowfall , winters are very harsh.
5. Loneliness creeps in. You are away from family, friends back in India nd cannot visit them often nd in difficult times.
6. You don't get helps like maids, cooks abroad nd need to do all the household work yourself.
7. Good money savings is there but with companies very good in India now, this factor is compromised.
So, it depends on your personal preferences of staying abroad , or in India. You should look what you want from life and should not do just coz others are doing.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. On a funny note I feel .3 is only because hum Indians wahan jaake apne fellow Indians jo same company mai India mai kaam karte hai unko khoob saara kaam de dete hai kyunki goro ke saamne kuch bhi bolne se darr lagta hai hume ki kahin humara visa na chala jaye. 😂
Can proudly say lived in the UK for 4 years on and off, and decided to come back to India and settle here for good.
Not comparing, but just giving my 2 cents about living there-
- had to pay 30% taxes
- almost half the salary went in rent
- never felt at home, couldn’t discuss bollywood movies, didn’t relate to their childhood and always felt I was trying too hard to be a part of groups
- friends and family are in India
- even british indians treat Indians as inferior. It’s very subtle, but its there. Like calling places like Hounslow and Southall names because its very typically Indian
- savings when converted to Indian money sound huge, there it wasn’t enough to buy a car / house or even party without putting a restraint on yourself
- medical facilities though free, you have to wait for months to get an appointment. Unfortunately got diagnosed with something critical, couldn’t even imagine staying there because of the wait to see a doctor.
- hands down , engineers and doctors and people in general in India are so much more intelligent
Some valid points which have some base 👍
Mere ghar ke bahar pigs aur dogs ghumte hai, sanitation hai nahi. Public offices m corruption hai - no preferential treatment, no old age welfare scheme, roads are broken, neighborhood is not silent. And I still end up paying >3lakh in taxes every year.
Move to a better locality and i don't think being a techie you will need govt welfare to survive.
Everything is changing. I decided not to go outside India as things have changed. The rate at which India is growing, I would rather take the best and stay back. Don't think too much and enjoy your life here. India isn't perfect but it is improving at a rapid pace. Health infrastructure is something that's lagging (by the government, private healthcare is good). Education too but these things are improving. Don't worry people who want to go abroad will go. Don't get into peer pressure.
PS I did get offer from US and Japan, I decided to stay put in India as cost of living has become very expensive outside India.
And just imagine, these kind of people were eager to come back to India during corona times and they spread the pandemic more. Usi desh me rahte na jaha gaye they.Hypocrites.

If you're privileged enough try moving abroad.
Patriotism is okay but you also deserve better life, To make india great again you can earn there and invest here that way you'll do your bit towards ur nation and live a better life as well.
We should admit we have problems here in india and someday it'll be fine. I hope.
Saw some post of friends returning from Europe coz of high inflation. Is it a trend now?
I don't know about US/UK but I was in Malaysia for a year and I found that I missed India. Family, friends, food, the culture and everything... I felt things are boring abroad with all the rules and discipline...
India is growing

These many people are surviving in india happily without going abroad. And here you are saying people can only survive outside india.

@Delloitte USA 1 - i think you need to re read the post. He is not talking about tax payers or people being happy or sad. He is just talking about survival.
"is there no other way to survive"
"like every other person"
"everone wants to go out"
"everyone talks"
I know you need to comment something , does not mean without understanding you will comment anything.
Its not a discussion about politics or opinion
I had offers from Dubai , Japan and US but decided not to go. As i feel now is the time parents need us the most and going there it becomes very lonely. The sitiation we saw during covid made this assumption more concrete. I am now looking at short term travel of less than a month so i can say i have been onsite without permanently relocating. This also feels rewarding as you can enjoy without guilt. Been to Japan and Hong kong so far

Why founders (for example, NRN ) and many other senior folks didn’t settle abroad ?
