Is there really that much value to being at the end of a culdesac v another location?

That seems like a personal opinion

It is pretty nice when you have kids, especially. Also nice to just have less through traffic generally, more area to park, even some area to have a little get together or kick a ball around in, and all that.

End of culdesac normally have less thru traffic, so quieter than other locations. Also depends on the neighborhood layout, sometimes may have more distance to neighbors so visually less crammed.

Less traffic and potentially extra large lot. I grew up on a culdaesac and all the kids just played in the street because there were so few cars.

Ofc, far less traffic. Every car reaching that area of the street is either mine or my next door neighbors’. A stranger or suspicious person is noted immediately. More of a bonus for those with kids, certainly.

Planning to move to New Zealand from the US next year for a better quality of life, how is the job market?

I’m a first year associate (almost second year). I work at a national firm and I’m not a litigator. When I started with the firm, I was told I could work out of any office. Long story short, I regret choosing the office that I chose. I’d like to transfer to another office - is that a difficult ask? I’m licensed in the state I’d like to transfer to. I don’t know how to make this request.

Our appraisal came through exactly as the offer price we put. Apparently by lenders 3rd party. Isnt that a bit fishy? If it came in lower our contract has the option to negotiate a bit with seller. Is lender just trying to push this along faster? I'm pretty sure in this crazy market the home is not valued at what we offered. Why would seller put a much lower asking price then? Make no sense. Please advise!

I'm early in my career, managed to save $30K to invest, and want to get my hands dirty with a rental property without too much risk (e.g. no HML/flipping). It sounds like that's a tall order in the NY/CT area given the prices, not to mention whether I'd be able to get a mortgage on anything below $100K, but I figure I'll give it a shot anyway. Any advice on what you might do in my position? Am I being crazy with this idea?

From a financial standpoint in this market, which would be a better approach in Austin -

1. Buy a ~8-850k house that meets most of our ideal criteria (size, schools, interiors etc) to stay long term

2. Buy a ~5-550k house that’s not ideal with the plan of moving into an ideal home in 4-5 years when kid is ready for school.
