Is your company closing for the holiday season? Have they advised taking mandatory vacations even if you prefer not to use your time off for that purpose?

Private companies have this practice. Accounting rarely has to take this break as payroll still has to get done, books need to be closed, etc.. I never even got laid off during Covid

Yes - but to maybe clarify, we get a handful of days off around the holidays as time off (holiday pay), then encouraged to use PTO for the rest of the days - staff aren’t required to take the time off and use PTO, most do though, with everyone off there is no internal messages, emails or comms - so the quiet is really really nice

GT is closed the last week of December through Jan 2. But given we are a professional services firm, we adjust our schedules if our clients have priorities for us.

I usually save some projects for the people who don’t take time off during that time. Almost everyone is out of office for those two weeks though.

New York folks:
Are you aware of the CPA exam credit extension to 2021 for NY CPA candidates impacted by COVID19? It’s on a person-by-person basis and you need to request the extension. Has anyone tried doing this yet? Can anyone shine more light on this? The extension would really help me, but I’m not sure what more to tell them in my email than the fact that I couldn’t sit for the exams this Spring/Summer due to test centers closing in NYC.

This might be a long shot but I'm looking for a volunteer who is trying to break into a federal career. Maybe a transitioning veteran, recent grad, or career-changer.

I'm pursuing my master career coaching cert and need to do a recorded 45-minute session. You don't have to be identified if you don't want to.

The single session is all I'm asking but could certainly turn into a longer lasting coaching relationship (at no cost), if you like.
