USAir purchase did them no favors
Around 2010 DL and AA's positions in the rankings were reversed... of course I committed to the wrong airline at that time 😑
Yeah pretty sure it was US Airways that dragged AA down, not the other way around
They were better but no, I am only a bit older than you and they may be worse than USAir.
Missed a connection after sitting on runway for an hour befire takeoff after mechanical issues and then at landing for 45 minutes due to traffic and incorrect gate equip.
I should have been pulled from the plane on outbound and told them as such.
I was right, they were wrong.
When AA acquired USAir, it all went to hell in a hand basket. I completely blame the morons that over the course of 3 years migrated from America West to USAir to #AAsshole air. They didn't learn how to run a major airline by doing. They got tossed into running #ihateAA opportunistically.
In fact, this is a parallel to Trump. Ran a good size real estate empire, but he is going to find running a country is the difference between night and day.
I think I agree it was that merger. I noticed it too. The newer aa planes are great but the us air planes are like hell has manifested on earth.
Also, can we go one thread without forcing the use of Trump's name?
Agreed ^^ More than delegation, they have failed to empower their employees to solve problems in real time for fear of reprisals.
Most of the AAssholes I run into are doing the least they can as quickly as possible to get you out of their face.
It is absolutely nuts. Didn't they used to be good? I'm 30 so I don't know this.
Try avianca lol
I am only platinum so don't always get upgraded to first class but I did this week. The cabin guy burnt the Chico chip cookies- WTH?
EP - upgraded every week and the attendants are usually solid. Most employees are ok.
AA has management issues and a lack of ability to delegate so their employees can do the right thing.
I've been spoiled by JetBlue's service
I've been flying AA for 10 years and I don't think it was all coming up roses pre-merger
I've flown a considerable bit this past year, on Asian and Middle Eastern airlines - they are soooo much better. Seats, food, service, quality - much much higher - and the airports, so much better - quite sad to see how we, as the world beaters, are getting beaten at our own game... 1. midEast 2. Asian .... 10.AA - this is after NRT-DFW just today on AA Biz ...
@PwC3 Agree the US airlines definitely leave a lot to be desired (although AA has the same biz class seats as CX on the 777-300ERs), but the ME3 benefit from favorable geography and the lack of need to make profits, and the service culture is just so much better in Asia. In some senses, their infrastructures have also benefitted from the growing pains of US infrastructures -- whereas much expansion in the US was organic resulting in the infrastructure equivalent of technical debt (there are sections of L track 100 years old in Chicago), recently developed countries could plan more effectively from the start, which is why their overall airport/subway infrastructure tend to be better (thinking HKG in particular). Oh -- one other thing I've noticed -- Asia is terrible at digital -- both web and mobile experiences for airlines are borderline unusable
^Agreed on the digital
