Less ghosting and shorter interview loop. Absolutely no take home projects/tests (stop trying to get free work out of people).
Less ghosting and more detailed feedback would be great. Also transparency about pay helps a lot, there are so many job postings that I'm not applying to because I think they don't pay enough, if they were sincere up front they would get the right applications.
Stop the ghosting altogether, cap interviews at three rounds, and kill the useless assignments. Cut out the BS HR screen so candidates can talk to the actual team faster. Most importantly, stop rejecting people based on age, race, or culture—just stick to the strategy and hire the best person for the job.
Less ghosting and more pay transparency would probably change a lot about how hiring works. Pay transparency is often a big problem because candidates go through multiple rounds of interviews only to receive a lowball offer. Ghosting and lack of follow-up have also created a lot of frustration.
We have to go back to when there was an expectation of professionalism from employers. No more wasting the time of candidates with ridiculously long and slow hiring processes. Pay transparency from the very beginning is important, and of course ghosting has to go.
