It's hard commuting to the office sometimes, but it's worth it. I know that if I worked in an office every day, I'd get so much more done than if I was stuck at home all day doing nothing but playing video games and watching Netflix.

hahaha brilliant

Honestly it's the complete opposite for me. I am so much happier working from home which makes it a lot easier to focus on my work. At the office, I was always anxious about coworkers bugging me.

That’s so true! I love the convenience of working from home but it’s no way as productive when I’m in the office

I'm not sure I agree that it's always more productive to be in an office. Sometimes, I find that if I'm in an office all day, I get burnt out and don't actually get much done. Sometimes, it's more productive for me to take a break from the office and work from home.

I agree! At the office, I can focus on my work and get things done efficiently, whereas at home, it's so easy to distractions that I never really get anything done.

I can get more done in a shorter amount of time if I'm focused and not interrupted by housework or errands. Plus, I enjoy the social interaction and stimulation that I get from my coworkers. Even though it can be tough sometimes, I'm grateful that I have the opportunity to work in an office.

Any advice on how to deal with a partner/boss who is shifting all responsibility to me with zero guidance, no mentoring, and an unwillingness to discuss the issues? (Small firm, only associate under this partner and have been working at the firm for 2 years). There are an increasing number of passive aggressive comments from the partner who expects to be completely hands off once the case lands on my desk. Wants me to figure it all out despite cases being from different areas of law.

I recently had an initial interview for a technical recruiter position. The guy on the phone stated that this is not a 9-5 job and long hours are expected. I proceed to ask how much PTO is offered and he said that is not recommend within the first 6 months of working and the harder you work the more PTO you receive. From that conversation, I saw instant red flags. Any thoughts?

want to interview at MBB again. Last year i had started the process but had to stop the process due to severe family emergency. What followed was depression and im doing fairly better now. I am Leaving Big 4 to join a tech focused Bank. But i feel like I should reach out to recruiter and start the process again. Just not sure if it’s the right move since im joining a new company. Feel it’ll look bad trying to join MBB after starting at a new bank. What to do?

I need advice.
I work at an manufacturing company as a technician. My job title is a technician but they use me as an engineer as-well. There are three techs overall in the company. My boss who hired me understands what my degree is in so he uses me to design parts and write reports. The plant manager doesn’t know my skills so anytime I’m in the office working he calls me to the floor to do something the other techs can do. Should I have a talk with the boss about it? (I ran out of characters)

Hi everybody! 😊
I've been working as a Junior Analog Design Engineer for a year and half.
I received a proposal for a Senior Analog Designer role from Bosch in the same city where I am currently working.
Should I wait and build up a few more years of experience before accepting a Senior role or should I jump in and work to fill the gap?
Next year, there will be an important deadline for the project I'm working on and my resignation could be critical for the team, how would you deal with it?

Any Bridge Engineers/Structural Engineers in here? I got my PE this year and have 5 YOE in TX + an MS. What sort of raise would you expect for receiving your PE working in a consulting firm? I am EOR on a number of structures in development, I manage EITs and Drafters (within projects; I'm not a supervisor), and am doing a lot in general. I'm at 78k currently, which is apparently still in the upper range of EIT salaries per a job posting in CO. I'm thinking of 15% (5% merit, 10% PE). Any ideas?
