I've been thinking about how retail and hospitality jobs are becoming less sustainable as long-term careers over the last handful of years, but this thought is starting to scream at me with the rapid cost of living increase. I feel these roles are going to become temporary landing points, or second jobs only instead of how people used to be able to use them as life-long careers. What's your opinion - are these still viable long-term careers?

Agreed! Even as someone who has moved up to management in this industry, I do not make enough to afford to live on my own. Thankfully my husband and I both have an income. If something ever happens to our either of us out of work, we would not be able to pay rent plus all other living expenses.

Agreed. I've worked in retail for almost twenty years now. First as a stocker, then moved to produce for a couple years. I've been doing recieving for the last six years and until this year things were good. Now, I have to look into getting a part time job on top of the 35 hours a week I already do.

It really should not be like this.

Hi! I’m doing some research on employee benefits (medical insurance, 401k, HSA/FSA, commuter benefits) and was hoping to connect with People specialists or HR professionals in the comp & benefits space. I’m trying to better understand any pain points or challenges you might face with utilization/enrollment. Anyone interested in connecting? Thank you!

Shall we start curating a list of comp/bonus?
Saw the main bowl which has this list but few data points for Europe & UK.
Would be good to know what the pay is currently due to the hot market & new joiners with great comp?
