There is a reason why they feel like that. People tend to have more success when they are energetic or bubbly. Not to say that is the only way by any means. Let the results and client relationships speak for themselves. And ensure you are at a place that values the results and not just the perceived performance.
I 100% agree with you.
I’ve also been with plenty of organizations that dump people to the bottom of the stack rank the moment they miss a number. The more energetic “engaged” “personable” people seem to get a pass more often.
Don’t get me started on the sellers that are best buds with their RDs.
It’s code for “we want a personality fit over actual results.”
It sounds like you are currently in such a role. What measurable successes prove that you are successful in your role? Think account retention rate, revenue growth, referrals, cross-selling, etc. You need to show that you are close to the money and the company benefits from you being in your role. Put all of that on a spreadsheet along with a column for Bubbly Personality and show your manager which of your attributes generate money and which column doesn’t.
If you are hitting yoru numbers then I honestly wouldn't sweat it. You dont' have to be bubbly to be good at sales.
