I’ve gotten a taste of both big 4 & industry and realized that this isn’t for me. Does anyone have some suggestions on exit opportunities? I’m considering presales engineer, data analyst, product manager roles but would love to hear some feedback on those who have left accounting to some of these field. Or really anywhere with decent pay and wlb! Thanks In advance!!!

You're an associate with b4 and industry exp and you've seen enough to decide that neither is for your? I have to imagine it was not meaningful exposure. Anything you choose is still gonna be work, it's not gonna be fun.

Most would consider data analyst and pm to be industry roles. Big 4 is pretty broad, they have tax, audit, and advisory services, and each is pretty different from the other.

You might be right that you don't like big 4 and industry but I feel like it's not an informed decision at this point. And anyways, if you cross off public accounting and industry off the list, all that's left is govt

Haven’t updated my title since I made my account lol. Spent 2+ years in big 4 and am currently a year in as a senior accountant in big tech. So ball park 3ish years doing this, don’t think it’s too unreasonable to think it’s not for me after 3 years

If I were to leave industry accounting, I’d do data analyst. I have an MS is Data Analytics and you can take it really anywhere you like. If you still want to stay in a finance role, you can work in BA.

Do you have your CPA? Feel like analyst would be best and they’d value a cpa? Could be wrong though!!

Hi all! I was asked coordinate a local happy hour for my team. The issue I’m having is that I’m currently pregnant and am not sure if I’m comfortable to hang out with strangers. What’s the most professional way to say no without hurting feelings / burning bridges? Or should I suck it up and go?

I’m in IT in a large corp and I don’t know what to do. I’m the systems engineer and I planned around what I thought was a straight forward concept. It appears what I thought would be possible was wrong. Everyone celebrated thinking I’d figured it out, including me. Were spinning up a full team to build it and I’ve exhausted all avenues to find an alternative solution. There isn’t. Horrified this is a career limiting situation….
