I’ve had a few interviews lately where it felt like the company wanted a full campaign, a strategy doc, and a mock pitch before even deciding if they liked me. I understand wanting to evaluate candidates well, but some of these steps feel like unpaid consulting dressed up as a hiring process. It also says a lot when a company makes “urgency” a big part of the role, then takes three weeks between interviews. How do you all tell the difference between a thorough process and a red-flag process?

I really want something that’s remote and steady, any recommendations on how to spruce myself up?

I left my job about a year ago to relocate, make sure it was the right decision and start a side business in the mean time. Now I’m actively looking for a new sales position, have tons of experience, but am struggling to even get a response from job apps. I am wondering if this is because of my employment gap? I had a job interview for a role that I really want. The hiring manager scheduled me for an interview and did not show up. Emailed me an hour later stating that he got super busy and couldn’t attend, and would like to reschedule. This is a major red flag, but I can’t help but feel that I am missing out since this role pays 50% over what I currently make. Should I let the recruiter know? What’s your take on this?

I was interviewed for a major tech player in the hospitality industry, had 2 interviews which for the first one the recruiter was late, and didn't confirm the interview while I emaild her to make sure I do have an interview. How would someone coming from mostly retail wireless sales get into the tech sales industry?
