I’ve noticed a lot of consulting opportunities for companies like Visa and Microsoft. What’s the major difference between the work you do for product firms vs at a Big 4 Deloitte EY PwC ? Is there a difference in pay, WLB? Are there opps for generalists that don’t want to do program management, e.g. internal strategy or process design & improvement

Work is external consulting but mostly with issuers, processors, fintechs, or merchants. Lots on payment strategies and other tends (digital, loyalty, crypto). Definitely better WLB I would think.

Curious to see what others have to say. I’ve worked with consultants from both type of companies and this is again a generalist vs specialist kind of a question. Let’s hear the fishes.

Interviewed with MasterCard couple months ago, seems like lots of the work they do involve using their own tool to help clients run A/B testing, data science heavy in consumer space

Consultant at Google chiming in. Can’t really speak to the visa/Mastercard aspect of it, but To the Microsoft part… I do a lot of what you’d do in a transformation practice. Migrations, architectural oversight, app buildouts etc. if the engagement is large enough we’ll involve a partner and then my job changes to architectural/tech strategy and relationship management with the client and partner.

It varies by role, but in cloud at GCP/AWS/Azure and probably at places like Salesforce or Adobe you’re doing much of the same. Implementation/optimization.

It seems like everyone is in agreement that switching firms gives you a salary boost, but that you could be viewed as someone that doesn’t stick around. Has anyone felt like they got held back from jumping firms every 2-3 years for the salary bump? I know peers that bounced around 2-4 times in a 7 year span and they are making significantly more money than if they stayed at their first job, however it didn’t seem like any of the new companies cared that they bounced around. Other experiences?

Hello Fishes,

I had given interview
Mindtree and cleared both technical rounds. On Tuesday 29 March 2022, I got a call from HR for the final discussion. After that I have not received any response.

I have been calling the HR and her manager, both are not responding to mail or calls.

Is there a way to get some information if my candidature is still in progress or is this delay natural? I have another offer from another company, but am more interested in joining Mindtree.

I have been with my current company for about 3 years now and currently at 75k plus employer paid benefits and decent pension plan. Due for review next month and expecting to be offered a 5k raise. However with 6 years of relevant experience I would like to be close to 85k. We hireda new team member for the same role as me as the business is growing. They came in at 75k which bothered me a little because I pretty much began this department and put in a lot of processes. More in comments.

Celsius vs BlockFi now that BlockFi has all the cease and desist orders? Seems like celsius pays better AND now may be a safer bet? I like that BlockFi allows interest flex so i could get everything in eth or something and i have their CC, but otherwise they kinda suck. Bad rates and limited / expensive withdrawals.

I’m also concerned about more states piling onto BlockFi and turning them into a bitconnect or cred or something. Unlikely i know but curious about folks thoughts.

Good evening everyone,

I have to rant and seek advice. It’s my 5th year teaching overall. I’m a 1st year at a new district it’s been really nice except for just some very small inconveniences: no classroom budget, too many meetings during planning time, printers are so bad that I had to bring mine from home, my district gives teachers chromebooks for laptops. I’m a a point where if I was invited to come back next year I’d say tell them no, am I crazy, is it just me? Please help
