Please stop overreacting
You’re not overreacting anytime there are people dying because of an epidemic.
For generally healthy people, the death rate is less than 1%. Even for very high risk people, it's under 10%. All media hype so I'll be in the office
The percentages become even more stark when the question isn’t “will I get sick and die” but “Will someone I love and care about get sick and die”.
None of us are an island and our spheres of concern typically extend beyond ourselves (and often cut into the demographics that are the most high risk)
For those who are healthy, think about how your lack of precaution may put your loves ones (children / grandparents) who may be more vulnerable at risk
We’ll see who’s “fear mongering” in another month
You risk your life more by getting behind the wheel of your car
Oh no! It’s the “Eat your food because there are starving children in other parts of the world” logic. 🙄
My company has implemented a travel ban and cancelled all onsite meetings till further notice. I think it’s good to exercise caution at this time.
They won't.
Influenza is more deadly and affects more people
CDC is projecting a 1% mortality rate, currently it is ~2.3%. Flu has .02%
Why’d China shutdown a city if its fear mongering?

If you are sick, or don’t practice good flu season hygiene (wash hands frequently, cover sneezes/coughs, etc.) - stay home! Otherwise just behave sensibly and don’t panic.
Reminds me of a project I worked on in Tel Aviv in 2013. Twice during the project fellow team members cancelled travel to Israel because of perceived threats from Syria. The Israelis were amused; they live with those threats every day.
The real concern is that too rapid an onset of the virus in the population could max out the health care system, and result in a higher death rate due to insufficient resources to treat the most serious cases
We all got to be brave and practice hygiene. The thing that concerns is you don’t see the symptoms right away. You never know if any passenger on the flight or in airport has it. Traveling is high risk at this point . My only point was that companies should act fast before the damage happens and do best to their employees
Risk my life 🙋
For perspective, there were over 1000 measles cases in the US last year... yet life continued as normal
Many people get vaccinated for measles at a young age. You cannot do that yet for Covid-19. And your point is?
Stay home but if you can’t be equally productive feel free to take either vacation time or a leave without pay.
Because work can only take place in a shitty project room with no windows in the middle of f nowhere. This is precisely why consulting as an industry is in for a massive shock when the intakes dwindle, or the millennial's turnover rate continues as it is.
Travel to nearby Costco, Meijer, Target, Walmart, whatever to stock up to your desire
Be careful of catching coronavirus at the grocery store. Might have to stock up on things beyond one’s desire.

Many projects are already giving the green light to work remote. The guidance that came out today firm-wide is you are empowered to make decisions regarding your travels. I just hope people do more than just worry, like wash your hands every 20-60 min, don’t touch your face, use sanitizing wipes, avoid big crowds/events, if going to an airport, doesn’t hurt to wear a mask as you may come in contact with sick folks
What if I’m scheduled to travel to Seattle? Thoughts?
Please don’t risk. Highly recommend not to travel Seattle
You’re commute in a car to the airport is more dangerous
I'm working with one of these cos. False except for employees in China.
Deloitte employee
Super Paranoid . The guy next to me was sneezing on the flight . Worst situation is I can’t change seat and I had no mask either to protect myself. 🤷🏽♂️
