It's always been performative theater.
Once they realize something doesn't make money or that not doing something will save / not lose money, bye bye
It was always theater. If it had been real there’d have been DEI execs with hiring, firing and meaningful contracting oversight.
Instead it was, at most, the ability to hire interns, be quoted in diversity press releases, and a small budget to sponsor diversity conferences and/or host diversity topic luncheons.
When will "Are you over 40?" Be one of the multiple choice DEI questions? Also, if I say I'm a non-binary transgender, will that really get my application through? All BS.
Yeah :( don’t even get me started on Bud Light partnering with Dana White to win back the transphobes 🤮

The incels are so bitter they do not forgive.
Until these companies have CEOs and senior leadership that represent a diverse culture, DE&I initiatives are likely to fail.
It was always PR. Most of these companies hired a ton of diverse junior talent who left after being paid less than colleagues, put on meaningless projects, and realized they were not going to hire diverse people in leadership.
We used to joke about Leo Burnett, the previous CEO, talking about DEI, yet 99.9% of executive hires were white men and women. One colleague sent LB and Groupe leadership a document with over 500 diverse people they could look into hiring in leadership roles. None were hired and we know they saw the document.

Harley Davidson is already getting beaten up by 95% of their customers (MAGA supporters) for making the wise business decision of investing in e-cycles.
By publicly ditching DEI (which was complete fake BS on their part anyway) HD is hoping to curry favor w/ their target.

Meta still has a Chief Diveristy Officer, Maxine Williams, and without a doubt the most diverse group of creatives I’ve worked with.

That’s why everyone’s leaving Xenophobia for Threads.
Is anyone surprised?
Ad agencies put on an air of open-mindedness. But it’s all BS and they know it
