I have been reading a few articles talking about how FAANG isn’t as lavish as it used to be. My first question is if that is true? If it is true, my second question is what companies out there have the pay, benefits, and perks like FAANG? My last question is if it is as difficult to get into those companies? GS is the best. I find myself taking connections when I don’t need to just to fly United. Honestly GS is like a drug
50k plus has the be united metal. Best perk is being able to use gpu’s in mileage tickets and it comes out of P instead of R space
Me too! Top ones:
- Skip the TSA pre-Check line if you’re out of a Hub (I’m out of ORD)
- use Global and regional upgrades on mileage tickets
- pretty much a guaranteed upgrade on non-peak business traveling times
Wow, it sounds like UA GS perks are equivalent to Delta Diamond, not even Delta 360. (Skip Pre-Check with Clear, upgrades on award flights, high likelihood of upgrades most of the time.)
Delta 360 and Concierge Key are all about tickling the balls...if you need that “boujee” stuff then those are the ones to shoot for. GS covers the essentials, especially if you’re out of a UA Hub.
Thats not true - starting last year ck has upgrade priority over all other statuses
Oh and dedicated line...I’m actually joining Deloitte in a couple weeks, where you based out of? And how’d you get GS? International trips?
Where is the skip line for Denver? Is there one?
GS requires about a 50k spend a year on United. There’s exceptions but that’s the general rule
I spent $55k and no GS :(
Damn...sorry B1
What was your pqm and bis bc1?
200k PQM. No idea how to calculate BIS quickly, had some segments on star alliance partners
Hey OP, there’s one in Denver, but I’ve never used it. Just ask a United emp when you get there. They’ll be more than happy to show you.
@C1, GS and Delta Diamond are not comparable, not even close. GS is the best of the unpublished statuses.
Top GS perks:
-Board before group 1
-Secret check-in counters at EWR, ORD, IAH, SFO & LAX that open to the front of the pre-check line
-Can use GPU/RPU on award tickets, and they clear out of PN space, not R
-GS agent can make saver award tickets for you if there is T space available (very common) on request
-If your flight is cancelled (even if it's not United's fault) you're guaranteed a seat on the next flight even if there are no seats
-Super useful direct line to GS agents who are very helpful (like booking you on multiple options during interruptions) and willing to make exceptions
-Entitled to buy a business/first saver award for a companion when flying business/first
-Common to get transfers in Maybach's or other Mercedes on the tarmac at airports
Also GS upgrades clear before 1K, AFAIK Delta and American don't do this for their unpublished statuses (360/CK)
Good to know
Losing GS jan 25 after 2 years of it.... 😥
Damn...😖
