I have a new job offer closer to home and higher salary. The new employer wants me to start asap. I will not be able to provide a full 2 weeks notice. What should I do. I feel really bad leaving my current employer with only 1 week notice. Any suggestions?

Alright my fellow fish I need advice. My last two jobs have been in a very specialized non-lucrative area of law. My state Bar is hiring senior attorneys for their Lawyer Regulation and Enforcement Department. What interests me is that it get me back into litigating (my current role is administrative) and it is a state job with competitive pay and good benefits. Does anyone have experience with this type of role? Would I be shooting myself in the foot if I take this job?

I got my 1st pay slip and wanted to get clarity that whether Employer Contributions towards PF is a part of our CTC that is being shared in the Offer Letter or not?

I can see from the calculations that I did is Employee contributions PF adds up to total amount which is mentioned in the offer letter.

Employer contributions is on top of it looking at the payslip.

Anyone who has gone from B4 to independent consulting that can share their experience? I have a potential opportunity to work for a small firm (3 people max) and work as an independent consultant. Still W2 but no compliance stuff. I have 4.2yrs of experience with 14.9ctc in same company without switch.
Now as I have taken permanent work from home due to location issue, they are reducing my package by 13%, so from next month CTC will be 13.7,
Currently I have TCS offer of 16.7CTC.
Is it worth going to TCS, as I have heard they dont give much hike, if I stay in current company in 2years I will reach the package TCS is giving me.

On mentoring:

There have been a lot of posts on here recently talking about mentoring discrepancies in biglaw recently whose basic theme is that mentoring is crucial to career advancement and comes easily to some (white, male) associates just by dint of identity and partners seeing themselves in them. But i think this really understates how actively people who are well mentored chase mentoring - a quick thread.

How do you professionally say “I don’t know where we are at with that item because that’s someone else’s decision to make” and you don’t want to throw that someone under the bus?
