Love it. Would also love for them to condemn this in their home state ... https://www.aclumich.org/en/press-releases/lgbtq-civil-rights-coalition-condemns-anti-trans-bill-targets-student-athletes
Seriously.
Honestly they are just rainbow washing their brand. They’ve done nothing in Battle Creek or in their home state to advocate for reap change.
I guess i like that there’s a donation aspect to this, but still dislike overall? I hate that a civil rights movement now gets reduced to being a product (obviously this is just an example of a wider issue).
Honestly, screw Glaad for lending their name to a company that doesn't actually do anything in the name of a few bucks. And nobody considered the optics of using Froot Loops, of all cereals?
Unless they start referring to Snap, Crackle, and Pop as a throuple, I think I'll pass.
That's ok, you don't have to. I am . When a nonprofit forms a partnership with a for-profit and lends its name to a campaign it is explicitly endorsing the for-profit and giving them good PR. The for-profit is doing this...for profit. They want queer dollars ultimately.
If the mission of the nonprofit is to make money for research or what have you, and solely that, then let them work with whomever, no skin off my nose. When the mission is not only to generate revenue to spend but is an unofficial representative of an entire community, then they have to do better. The for profit had damn well be a leader in the community before the nonprofit sends business its way.
In order to pink wash a company you need a nonprofit doing the painting. And that's Glaad in this case.
