For anyone else confused, OP is concerned that more ad men are now interested in working on accounts that are traditionally associated with women.
I gotchu girl 🤝
I don't know. I'm kinda getting tired of the mean girl culture where I'm at, so there's that. Women need to start supporting each other and not worry about what men want.
Totally agree
ok then by your logic straight white women shouldn’t work on beer or men’s sports/apparel. Just let the best creatives work on whatever brands they are offered.
@A23 lol I’m not the one making up the rules, I’m just trying to keep up with everyone’s gender rules 😵💫 you continue to enjoy that beer!
Ok DEI crazed women — please leave the convo. You clearly have not worked in an agency setting where the men poo-poo the beauty brands and femcare and Botox and wouldn’t be caught dead working on such brands. There isn’t even a beauty category at Cannes, just personal hygiene so Axe can dominate.
The CMO on Dove is a man. The CMO on Coors is a woman. Same goes for the CMO on Ford and Nissan. Who cares?
We make ads for audiences we don’t necessarily belong to. That’s the job.
Seems like you’re just frustrated there’s more competition for roles atm.
Let me know if you can show me a screenshot of that ‘personal hygiene’ category. Would love to see it.

Yes!! The pendulum has totally swung back
I haven’t seen it leaching in from a category perspective, but I have dealt with toxic male colleagues more this year than ever before in my career. Despite hearing that complaints have come from multiple colleagues, our leadership refuses to let this individual go so idk I guess that rude bro culture behavior is there to stay.
What does ‘wanting in on beauty brands’ mean? They want to have shares or they start using them?
yes! i’m seeing it left and right
What do you mean want in? Is that a bad thing? Do the straight black/Hispanic/Asian men every want in? What's the point?
I'm confused what OP is trying to say as well so I guess it evens out
Yes. It’s becoming men v women in my dept for about 12-18 months
For those here who are new to reality: 40–45% of advertising professionals are white males and up to 80–90% are in leadership and executive ranks.
Where did you get those percentages? I did some digging and found this:
“In 2023, 78.6% of the Advertising & promotions managers workforce were White, of which 56.1% were women and 43.9% men.”

Anyway, I know you told all “DEI crazed women” to “leave the convo” but if we really want to make things more diverse I would love to talk about POC representation as well. Or at least not exclude them from the convo.
White women have benefited disproportionally from corporate DEI efforts. Good for them. It was due. Now let’s also help others.
