Can someone explain budgets? If I'm getting paid my salary, and the firm is getting paid the fee, how does the budget play into this? Let's say one team charges 300 hours for a 1 month engagement (within budget), and another charges 400 for a similar, same fee/budget, engagement (went over budget). Why would the firm care? At the end of the day, team 2 worked a few weekends but does that matter...? I'm guessing it has something to do with opportunity cost?
