Hello, I'm looking at a position within Paypal. My question, what is the work life balance, expectation for office (hybrid/remote/other) and is the pay comparable to other companies? Reviewing Director and Senior Director roles on the business side. I have over 15 years experience with multiple degrees. TIA!

I wear almost exclusively leather soles in the winter and other seasons I like those thin rubber treads on leather. Helps keep me from slipping. Pure leather and airport floors make me feel like I'm ice skating.
Yeah wear both. Nice shoes can have rubber soles. Plus the Beatles have a Rubber Souls.
Big fan of the dianite soles on Allen Edmonds shoes. More durable, more functional, and more comfortable which in my mind makes them all around superior to leather soles. I think leather soles have the perception of being high quality or fancy, but that's not necessarily the case IMO
Shoes with leather soles tend to be higher quality.
I have both. Leather soles are definitely better looking, but a little bit of me dies inside when I walk through a parking lot full of pebbles, sand, and in winter road salt in shoes with leather soles.
True life confession. I was at my desk at home and I looked at the bottom of my (leather heeled) shoe. I noticed a sharp rock or metal shard lodged in it and managed to pick it out, but I dropped it and couldn't find it -- it was miniscule. A few minutes I slid a chair and the felt pad on the bottom of the chair's foot caught the shard and scratched our hardwood floor. 10 boards! The floor is less than a year old! 😣😣😣
I plead ignorance when I showed my wife what had happened.
BA1, anyone who has spent 10 hours in Sam's Club taking photos of SKUs to enter into a spreadsheet would not say it is a cool job. Or standing outside a store and asking customers if you can follow them around the store in exchange for a $50 gift card. It's just a necessity sometimes in consumer work, the rest of which I love.
I put topys on all leather soles, best of both worlds. I have a pair of rubber sole Eccos for days I will be on my feet the whole day like store visits.
I have an inferiority complex and like to be noticed so I prefer squeaking as I walk
BA1 - you wear your shoes around the house?
Leather soles, because you can't replace full rubbers. Find a good cobbler and let those shoes mature.
Leather soles on wet marble...
Watching people with leather soles walk through the marble floor in Oculus in the WTC is hilarious. That being said, I wear leather all the time cause rubber can squeak
All good responses! And that's how I feel @B1. Or when it's raining. It's not like I carry galoshes with me at all times haha
Bcg1 sounds like a cooler job than I have. The industrial client I'm at requires rubber soles for safety purposes. I have Allen Edmonds loafers with the thin rubber layer below the leather outsole
But in all honesty I rock the rubber cuz I'm about the biggest clutz when it comes to slipping and eating shit. Would rather squeak. Not a fancy guy
No idea what my soles are made of...
