Late night thoughts with me... what is your number? You know the number of children you have taught in your career? The number of hearts you have touched or possibly the number of lives you have changed?? You are the real miracle workers!

I don’t know-that’s the bittersweet thing about teaching I found. Once they move on/age out of the class, that’s it 😔 I will probably never see these children again

But you had them for 180ish days. You have done so much for them. You might be the teacher they never forget. What they do as adults, who they become, doesn't matter as much to me as how they feel about them selves. Keep fighting the good fight!

Well over 6,000. This is my 35th year teaching.

Seriously, I have never thought about the number. I always wonder about the happiness and lives of the students who have moved on from my classes. Many of them have stayed in contact with me and we talk regularly.

Your perspective shifts when you know a number... the magnitude of what we are doing is easier to see.

Oh gosh...I don't even know! I started as a middle school teacher 6 years ago with BIG class sizes and I taught 6-8 in year 1- then 8th grade for 3 years. I've been at the high school level for 2 years now. Rough guess is probably a few hundred- I know for sure I've made lifelong bonds with 2 kids who still call me after they've graduated.
