I’d stay local, SF is leas crowded during the holidays and u could take advantage of local hiking trails having less traffic
Welcome! Point Reyes national seashore or Bodega Bay (about 1.5 hours north up the 1) are nice for a weekend getaway. Great coastal hikes and oysters. Or Healdsburg for wine tasting and great restaurants.
Lake Tahoe will be extremely crowded and the roads could be challenging depending on your exact timing. I would avoid if you are looking for a casual weekend getaway during the holidays. What kind of a vibe are you looking for?
I'd head down to Big Sur if I had the time off (but do you have to be back on the 26th? Could be tricky to do it in only 48 hours). But Big Sur is so so beautiful and Idk if I think it'd be that busy during Christmas. I guess hotel availability will let you know if it's going to be super crowded
Why would anyone want to hike during Christmas time?!!? You can do that anytime of the year. Are there any Christmas specific fun activities around?
