Let's say you knew someone who used to be an alumni chapter president for HSW and you were going to ask them to write a letter of support for you. Would it be best to do so before interviews are sent out, or after you've done your interview?

I feel that I'm a strong interviewer and fear most being dinged with no interview. I come from a non-traditional background and feel that may increase the chances of not getting an interview. Should I go ahead and ask before interview invites have been sent

I’m a newer registered nurse (2 years) and want to get into remote work. I keep getting denied due to lack of experience but to even get the job I have now (case manager) the company knew one of my family members and they gave me a chance to interview because of that. For these remote companies where I don’t have connections how can I transition over?

Why can't you be direct and tell me if the candidate you move on with has more experience, more skills, asked for less salary, you felt more connected when you two spoke, etc.?? Man, looking for a job is so tiring and discouraging

I interviewed at a law firm and had my final round last Friday. The Tuesday afterward, I got a call from the recruiter saying the firm won’t have a decision for another week. I believe they’re interviewing other candidates. Does that make me second or third choice? And does the fact that I’m working with a recruiter hurt my chances of being selected due to the commission? Should I hold out for the offer or is 1+ week a sign that I won’t be selected?

I applied for a position through a recruiter and made it through the interview rounds with the actual company and received a verbal offer, but haven’t heard back since. Am I able to reach out directly to HR for updates or does all communication have to be filtered through the recruiter?

How early is too early to ask about salary when interviewing? First meeting w HR? With the CDs/ECDs? Or do you have to wait all the way till the end? Just went through a long interview process only to find out they never had enough to hire me without me taking a pay cut 😭

When would be the right time for me to get an MBA given my background?

I was a teacher for 4 years and transitioned into the corporate world. I have 6 months experience in marketing and that’s what I currently do, but plan for a lateral move in the future. I’ve seen suggestions of 3-7 years experience - does my teaching experience factor in? Or should I consider the 3-7 years only of my corporate time? Or is an MBA sooner a good move because of my big career transition (and future lateral)?

I know that people say it’s all about story, but with a certain gpa/gmat score is there a “floor” that you’re safe on? For example would someone with 4.0/780 (not me) be pretty much assured at least 1 M7? Or is there a reasonable chance that all M7s will reject them? Or is their floor just lower (T15 for example)?

Why does Stanford GSB ask if any ‘close relatives’ are also applying for the same MBA class? Would a cousin count and should I disclose this information, or will it factor against me?
