Litigators: I just transitioned from a BL corporate shop to doing BL lit full time and I am So. Damn. Tired. What tools and strategies do y'all use to turn your brains off and decompress? Would love feedback beyond alcohol and weed, although I know that's common. TIA!

I like video games, reading, movies, TV, etc. I want to get back into playing music. Also, listening to podcasts while doing laundry, cooking, cleaning, etc.

Why is lit more tiring than corporate?

like

Corporate, at least for me, was feast or famine, whereas lit so far has been a lower baseline but way more constant and thought provoking (read: mentally draining). I appreciate your insights!

12 hours of bl lit and 12 of bl corp are NOT the same. Try to sleep more and go on a run. Take a bath. Take supplements. Go to a sauna. Anything physical that takes you out of your brain is good.

like

How’d you pull that off? Most recruiters told me the corp to kit transition was very difficult

like

It was super unlikely tbh. I did a bit of lit on the side whenever deals were slow, which I think helped

Industry vets - in your experience how recession proof is insurance? I was not yet in the job market last recession but I watched my mom get laid off and struggle to find employment during that time for the next 1.5 years. I was wanting to hit the job market towards the end of this year, but now I worry that if I do move companies, the recession could put me in position of last one hired first one fired. Is it better to stay put?

I know that some other associates at my level are approximately 30% behind other associates in hours on a month to month basis. Yet all of these associates say they are “at capacity”, and myself and another associate still end up being assigned work instead of them. How do we handle this? For reference, all associates are around the firms minimum requirement, it’s just that a few of us are 30+% over and it is leading to burnout.
