People mentioned GDC and GT already, but in addition, there’s Simpson, Goodwin, Fried Frank and Kirkland on the equity side. On the financing side, top names are probably Dechert, Cadwalader and Sidley (and Willkie and Cleary to a lesser extent, though their lawyers are wicked smart, just not the biggest practices)

I work a lot with Katten, Gibson Dunn, and GT. Not sure on the breakdown of their workloads or anything.

GT, mostly out of their FL offices in my experience, does a LOT of commercial RE work.

GDC. RE have our own deals. Corporate support pops up now and again but you don’t have to be the person doing it here.

Agreed with A4. Acquisitions/dispositions, joint ventures, leasing, development/construction/land use, financing. Collateral types includes apartments, hotels, office, retail, healthcare, industrial, and more. Also special structures like ground leases, condos, sale-leasebacks and more.
Just doing corporate support and not running my own deals sounds miserable, NGL.
How hard is it to transition to real estate from a completely different area?

Depends how junior you are and how adjacent your work is (e.g., can translate corporate finance to real estate finance). Years 1-3, I’ve seen us hire all kinds of transactional. May need to be open to a class year cut. I think people are anxious at the moment and will not be hiring though. (Which is not to say won’t pick back up by fall).
