Hi all, currently working as a Guidewire developer. Any idea what is the future of Guidewire developer? Will the experience count if I apply for java related roles?

How hard would it be to get a job if I quit mine? I’m feeling really burnt out and unhappy with my current environment. I’ve been applying for positions since February and not getting much traction. I’ve expanded my search to NC, DC, TX, and CA, or fully remote. I wonder if maybe I’m just not dedicating the time needed to conduct a good search/get enough applications out there. My current position is at a firm and I don’t have time to apply to more than 1-2 jobs per week. Finance/corporate law.

I’ve been thinking of having a kid, and I’m going back and forth between career vs. difficulty as I get older. If you had a kid (or more) while practicing — when did you do it? (How long have you been practicing before you had kids?) Any advice appreciated!

I have a manager that does not seem to understand mental illnesses, disorders, etc. He thinks I am making excuses rather than trying to explain things (I have diagnosed ADHD, anxiety, and depression) and I’m trying to take ownership for issues but also help him understand what I am describing better as well. We are sitting down for a conversation later this week. Any advice on how to gently educate or help with his understanding of neurodivergence and other mental health considerations?

My wife got a job that requires us to relocate to San Diego. We have never lived there and know little about the city. We are planning to rent. We stayed in a hotel in little Italy and really loved the vibe there, but it’s too expensive for us.
