I am not sure this is a good place to be asking for a referral for a MD role at a major bank.

The point is none of the commenters above can connect you.
Leverage other channels, such as executive meetings and high profile conferences to connect with top decision makers.
You are not reaching too high, you can do it.
You were not in your own lane, you tried to make yourself appear more “helpful” by putting down other’s comments. That was a hypocritical move.
OP - none of the comments I made was to discourage you, it was simply to point out this is not the forum to look for a senior role like a MD of a major bank. I have worked on Wall Street for 20+ yrs and started at public accounting also, I am just being honest. D1 is right about networking, that will take some time and patience in terms of making the right connection. Go work with a recruiter if you want to move quicker and figure out where you stand as a candidate. Good luck.

You may consider contacting PwC to find out if they have any advice on Mellon Bank positions or on hiring in this area. Also, you may want to contact Mellon Bank's Human Resources department for more information about the Managing Director position
Apologies for how blunt this might sound :
If you want to be hired for a MD role, you should already have connections lined up. That's a highly visible role, they expect you to demonstrate that with connections and experience.
Without that, maybe you aren't senior enough for that role....yet. Asking an online community to be a proxy for that....ehhhh.
