Day #8: Why there are so many layoffs in tech? 🧐
We are in an uncertain period in the tech labor market, with big tech (Twitter, Meta, Amazon, etc…) companies laying off part of their workforce. Let’s understand what and why is happening.
Ok I’ve yet to get a real offer since the pandemic layoffs. Any recommendations for recruiter/resume services? Left off with 3 years of IT product management and 10 years customer success/training management.
Trump could have fired her anytime he wanted and he's telling people that have no power to "take her out". The recording is from Igor Fruman, the second lackey.
What happens if someone is fired on H1B?
Soo as I scroll my feed I see a headline saying, " PWC facing 3 major trials that threaten its business that can break the firm." Is that explaining all the layoffs?
Layoffs at Mullen?
Here is how KPMG handled an announcement today re: a RIF:
We’ll be laying off people. We can’t tell you when. can’t tell you how many people. We can’t give you any details. But we WILL send you an email after this call with FAQs and the severance policy.
...no email was sent. So, now 1,000 employees are going to bed tonight confused and irritated AF.
Got laid off. Going to start freelancing. Any 'loop hole' advice you FL 🐠 can lend? (Tax stuff, employment benefits etc.)
Manager1 - “Nobody likes her. she’s been moved around department managers because no one can stand her. We tried to get her fired, but Hr said no.”
Manager 2 - “Firing without proper cause can lead to a lawsuit…”
I got laid off today and I’m scared
I am a java developer and I am making a switch and joining a product-based company in July. I am scared that the knowledge and experience i had at Infosys will not be enough to be able to work effectively at new firm given I have 7+ yrs of experience.
I am scared what if I get fired for not performing up to the mark.
I had theoretical knowledge of few java frameworks and no real project experience, but i didn't mention that in the interview. Would that backfire?
Please guide me.
Hi, anyone has idea of any case where cts fired and terminated employment of employee who completed years in cts and after that cts found some issue in past work experience issue in candidate.

How did PWC and Deloitte handle layoffs this year? Just curious in terms of how and when? EY layoffs have been quite sneaky!
Anyone know the compensation for HR generalist making 60k and also having additional recruiting responsibilities?
Has anyone seen someone in big4 M&A tax switch to a generalist consulting role at T2/MBB? Not expecting tenure to transfer. People at the ~consultant level have said it’s basically an impossible switch, so I’m looking to see if PPMDs share that sentiment.
How long HR takes to respond for feedback after 1st round of interview? What it means when hiring manager upfrontly says HR will get back to you, but there might be a delay since they are still interviewing candidates?

Currently a sales associate on the retail investment sales side. From what I hear, the institutional space has more salary potential and room for growth.
What firms offer entry level positions? Are there experience requirements before getting my foot in the door? Will certifications or an MBA help? Should I look outside of Canada?
Anyone have a manager that has a grudge against you? My manager missed something a few months ago which led to him explaining something wrong in a meeting with our other boss. I corrected him/gave him the answer (unthinkingly I'll admit) after our boss left, and since then he's had the worst attitude with me and only me. It's making work so awkward. What's the best way to solve this?
Just finished a long recruitment process and decided to accept a new CEO role for a healthcare organization. Need to give 4 weeks notice…should I give more and help my current organization find a COO replacement?
What are some things you’d want to know about an incoming CEO or traits you desire in your new executive leader?

Do you typically work on holidays? This year I had to work a bit on Thanksgiving because we had an event. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be though.
A large part of my job involves building models or making reports that involve copying numbers from one document to another. Sometimes, if I get interrupted, I lose my train of thought and make mistakes in getting the right number. Nothing disastrous has happened, but I’m trying to figure out how to get better at not losing my train of thought when doing work that basically involves looking up numbers from various documents. Any suggestions?
