As an ADC applying this summer for 2022 start, I haven’t gotten a chance to connect with any L.E.K. Consulting members and I really want to get to know the company better before moving on with my application. Any L.E.K. Consulting fish out there willing to spare a few minutes to chat about their work, the company, the culture etc? Thanks!

Hard to say without more context. Some jobs are 9-5 where the only goal is to collect a paycheck and get by. Other jobs are high pressure and regular 50-60 hour weeks where the goal is an impressive career and real wealth.
Managerial positions comes with lots of responsibilities that can be overloading and tiring physically and mentally exhausting, you need to design a means to get your team members to play their par. Division of labour, have peer talks and meetings with them, and most importantly you need to manage your stress and time judiciously and create a work-life balanced approach to your own self development and growth!
That was me at the beginning of my career. It is that way at the beginning and now I have 35+ years behind me and most of the people that would not put in the time have gone from job to job and do not get ahead. Be patient and let your years working harder than most catch up with your determination.
Makes me feel better knowing the grind should hopefully pay off in the end
Hang in there. I know a year can feel like a long time, but a lot of what feels a little more time consuming now will eventually become second nature. By years two and three, there will be tasks you can practically do in your sleep that may take extra time and effort right now—and that’s completely normal.
I’d only raise it with your manager if it seems like there’s a true equity issue with workload or expectations compared to others on the team. Otherwise, the early stages of your career are often the time for learning, building experience, and yes—doing a fair amount of grinding. It gets easier, and the effort you’re putting in now will pay off later.
Appreciate your words of reassurance. I sure hope I feel better in about a year.
