I have a Range Rover sport 2018 and m4 2018. Don’t listen to anyone here who has never owned a Range Rover, especially a newer generation 2014+ about reliability on them. Are they a Lexus, no? But I’ve had no major issues with my Range Rover since I bought it. Are there glitches with the tech, yes and the parts can interior can get creaky, but I love my Range Rover. It’s so fast, fun to drive and reliable. I’ve had more issue on my stock 2013 Subaru Outback with 105k miles. Also unless, it’s a M, I’d sell the bmw, the Range Rover is fun enough to drive and has a lot of power if you get the v8.
My Porsche was more expensive lol. I’ve driven Mercedes for 10 years before my Porsche and never had an issue. I would still tell someone looking at the used market to budget for additional/ unexpected large maintenance costs because broadly speaking, I was fortunate. That is my only point

Good choice make sure your house is close to a workshop.
Buying a 2019 Range Rover in 2025 is broketivities
In this economy, I am very afraid to commit to $100,000 car lol. I also just love old classic Land Rover too. Like I want to buy an LR4for next for funsies. I may actually just do that first.
Most Range Rovers spend more time in the shop than on the road. Get yourself an ironclad warranty and make sure it includes loaners/rental cars. You will need that for sure. When they work, they’re really great/cool cars.
Do you have an extended warranty that you would recommend? Or one that you have now?
Why do you want to buy a 6 year old, high mileage and unreliable SUV?
“Mainly due to cost”… made it sound like you were budget conscious lol. Just factor in maintenance and repairs when comparing as it’s similar to Porsche—the cheapest list price isn’t always the cheapest to own over x years
I would take the money that you would use for monthly payments and set that aside for a year or two and then take that money to put down for a large down payment on a 2021. You were disciplined in paying off your BMW. Drive that puppy into the ground and earn yourself a Range Rover. Once that Range Rover starts falling apart, like they always do. You'll need extra cash to keep up with the repairs. Alternatively save up the entire amount of money needed to buy the next car in cash
2019
Like C2, I’ve also had 2 since 2020 - RRS and a full-size, both V8s, both problem-free. That said, I’d probably only get a CPO car with an extended warranty (which costs roughly the same as a service does these days), more for peace of mind than anything.Only thing to keep in mind is the tech sucks in the L405s. Very outdated/laggy.
I use to sell them. What to look for is a longer list than what you don’t. Used RR out of warranty is a gamble at best. Stay away from Evoques especially , they’re garbage.
My best advice is to get a PPI on any you’re seriously interested in by an independent shop. Preferably one who specializes in British cars. Buy certified preowned if you can or get a good service plan without big exclusion holes. They will be expensive for an RR though.
Electrical, lots of alternator and battery issues. Random gremlins that pop up that are harder than those to chase down.
Air suspension where the sensors will have faults or one corner will just die.
Oil leaks, crankshaft pulley bolt failures. Gearbox total failures.
So on and so forth.
As for warranties, I’ve been out of sales a while, so specific ones likely won’t be available. Many companies won’t even touch them at all. Jaguar, LR, and Maserati were the hardest to get warranties on.
CarMax might be available, but they will be incredibly expensive for LR. Whatever warranty you get, make sure they walk you through what is covered and what is not explicitly. Not just “oh yeah you’re covered”
This is my 2024 Land Rover Defender 110, purchased for about 145,000. Please check all electronic functions, tire wear and brake pad condition, and note that Land Rover maintenance and repair costs are high.
I have a 2022 Range Rover velar and highly recommend it. Haven’t had any major issues and is fun to drive. If possible, I’d go for a newer model with less miles on it but that’s just my opinion. Feel free to DM with any questions
What’s your source? Velar was only released starting in 2017…
