EY recruiting is such a mess. Applied and did a pre-recorded video interview, heard nothing for like 3 weeks. Then I get a random call saying they liked me and would I be available to attend an interview the following day. I say yes but never receive an email or additional details. Call back the number and it goes to voicemail. The following week I get a rejection email. Just so frustrating EY

Small market with a few large companies (Qualcomm, Sempra, Illumina) and many life science / biotechnology/medical device companies ranging size from start up to $1B in revenues. Biotech is the main industry and it is a very close community (everyone knows everyone here). EY is the clear leader in this market, especially on the assurance side, serving the majority of public and pre IPO biotech companies in the market. I believe they audit something like 70% of the public companies and did an even greater % of the IPOs over the past decade. EY is the clear leader/"choice" firm in this particular market.
Extremely difficult PwC office to transfer into (demand exceeds supply). If you're not highly rated and don't have a partner willing to drive the process, odds of a transfer being approved are extremely low.
Also, unless you are coming from a high COL market, be prepared for sticker shock. Housing is expensive and jobs don't pay significantly well (they call it a "sunshine" tax). Great place to live if you can afford to be near/in the coastal areas. Too Far East and you are in a desert with bad commute into the "golden triangle"
Seconded to what PwC 1 said- probably the hardest PwC office to transfer to. Have a tier 1 rating and know someone there essentially. Lots of sweet consulting opportunity on the Tax side if you're headed that way.
Thanks for all of the info! I'd be coming from another high COL area so I'm prepared for the pricing of everything. I do have a pretty good rating right now and have done a lot of work in the pharma/biotech space so I'm hoping those are pluses in my favor as well. Hopefully it'll work out where I can transfer to the office.
For RA? Also opportunities in general if the transfer doesn't go through
