Managers and senior managers - 1) How much are you paid 2) How big is your book of business you managed and 3) How many staff do you manage?

Manager 4 years and took a 10% paycut to work flex schedule equivalent to 40 hrs per week. Just was increased to 95k in a HCOL area. I manage 8 major client groups, report to 14 different partners/directors, am in charge of 250+/- returns. I also do almost all of the detail review on trust returns for my office (well over 75 returns).

Technically I don't manage anyone, just accounts but I do take it upon myself to mentor everyone I work with.

Side note: The above pay is significantly below market and combined with the stress level has caused me to reevaluate my priorities. I am starting a new position at a smaller firm.

Come to EisnerAmper! Pay is definitely better for same kind of work and great culture!

M2 here. 190k salary; book was around $1.2m last year (obviously not my book, but we share revenue with partners). We have 4-5 associates and seniors I work with (recent had a few seniors and associates leave).

like

M3, but this was a huge jump from my “book” last year (1.5 mil)

SM HCOL, managers make $120k and up, as a manager we detail review mostly but get our hands dirty because of staff shortages, also do the billing and client contact, but weekly hours are not more than 60. Came from big 4 where expectation was 60+ hours a week for less pay

like

Probably about 800k

Manager 3, making $130k. I manage a book of business that fluctuates around $8-12M per year. I’m in international tax, and what I’m working on is mainly transaction driven or supply chain projects, so they’re longer term and bigger projects. I generally have no more than 2-3 projects at a time. Each one managing 5-6 staff/seniors, 5-6 managers, 3-4 senior managers, and coordinating with multiple foreign teams (depending on project, sometimes up to 200 foreign teams).

like

Yeah, generally revenue goes to the partner and the 2nd highest ranked person on the engagement. So 8-12m would not go to EY3 since sounds like there are ~5 people above them.

I work at a mid tier firm in an audit group of ~20 people. We’ve recently had two seniors and a manager leave, and I just found out another senior with a ton of big jobs is leaving in three weeks. I also just found out I’m being promoted to senior with a raise of 10%. In light of all these departures though, I kind of want to ask for more.... should I? And what % raise is appropriate? Any insight appreciated!

I have observed that people on testing domain or frontend are getting better pay than other new tech domains like blockchain, cyber security, data sci etc(4-11yr exp) .
For less than 4 years experience new tech job gettig good pay but others getting very less.

In dev job Java, spring r etc getting better pay. Also some SAP consultant are also get paid high.
Is exp people in testing/frontend dev are less due to which they getting better pay than others with experience.

Hi all, was hoping for clarity on offers from FANG/Tier 2 tech I received recently. Base pay is still within range of 130-150K, but equity components have dropped dramatically. For reference, for similar positions, I was receiving grants of 150K - 200K over 4 years for data analyst positions (4-5 YOE) in Aug’21-Feb’22. For personal reasons, I did not accept these offers. Now the equity grants are coming in like 50-70K over 4 years. Is this market wide for non SWE/PM roles due to stock market?

I want to share very bad experience I had at
Mastercard
I was given offer by Mastercard in month of Dec The hike was less but looking at brand & other perks I accepted the offer & was looking forward to joining them.I got few offers & I went back to them for sole purpose of renegotiating CTC, to have a industry standard hike. They didn't reverted back for 2-3 days & just dropped a mail that they are revoking initial offer as well on grounds that they didn't like i gave other interview

It’s hard to trust the partners/leadership when they want us to return to office as being better when we increase offshoring? Also, the pressure on billable hours when all that really matters is how much our fixed labor costs vs. how much we can bill (which is usually fixed fee or at least a range) and the fixed labor costs of offshoring is significantly cheaper so the hours don’t matter. Am I mistaken by this viewpoint?
