I have sent counter offer to on boarding HR spoc in IBM for re negotiation. Its been one week. HR is not responding to my calls and emails. What should I do? Any suggestions? I don’t think you really negotiate and the senior level. Your only realistic option is to leave if you want higher pay.
Please don’t listen to big4 advice. Mid tier firms are run much differently (I know because I’ve worked at both). You should absolutely ask for more. You might not get it but if they can’t risk losing you then you have a very good shot. Worst case scenario they say no and you are right where you are now.
I’d take the raise. But, a bigger concern I’d have if I was in your position is the risk of being overworked. Unfortunately, it’s a lot harder to replace seniors and managers than it is staff.
They’re not going to pay you extra just because they are all of a sudden a little short staffed.
Are you going to start working 60 hour weeks while successfully filing the role that the former manager and staff had? If so, you have an argument for more money. But it seems like you want more just because they might be afraid to lose more people.
