Do it IF you think you can learn to understand the science and won't lose it getting major changes to your ads from noncreative types who sit on MLR committees. AI is going to figure out how to make "good enough" consumer work before health, but it's still not worth it if you can't do the work.
Yeah, it can be hard for a lot of writers to accept, but you must show absolutely every word you write to a random person with a PharmD who is usually allowed to kill or rewrite whatever they want. 🤷♀️
Making the jump to healthcare is a smart move, but it'll sting. But once you embrace your inner cynic, you'll realize it's OK, and maybe even a bit helpful sometimes.
But yeah, as soon as you have grey hair coming in, take that as a flashing red dashboard light that your consumer career is over
There are other skills they need to have too. Annotations and the like.

I liked working on consumer work, but I enjoy making more to do the things I like. I was averaging $90k when I worked in consumer and now make $185k in healthcare.
Right on, brother. I like consumer work too, but at the end of the day, it's work and it's becoming less fun now that my company is making us optimize every single workflow with AI. Appreciate your comment.
I say go for it. Yes, there’s a lot to learn in moving beyond consumer. But everyone doing it now had to learn at some point. Be prepared to put in the reading and learn your clinical trials, product , and regulatory specifics inside out. There’s no shortcut in that; but if you really want it you’ll do it. Plenty of people do bullshit it and get away with it for a while. But it doesn’t work long term ( unless you come in at C-suite level, then you can spout ignorant crap all day every day). Do be realistic, though-unless you live relatively far outside a major city, the idea of buying a decent house doesn’t seem like the greatest (or most feasible) idea, unless you can afford to pay cash. Stay on the smart side of interest rates and best of luck to you!
