I think it’s better than most. I also think big Tech PM is overrated. If your goal is strictly about making money, I would just stay at capital one and see how fast you can move up
Congratulations! current MBA here as well. ive been networking with C1 PM’s and thinking of applying to roles there. Would you mind giving tips on the interview process/structure?
Klarna is right on the money.
Signed - Tech PM who has worked at CapOne competitor
MBA grad, current big 4 PM - best of luck to you (not being sarcastic, truly just want to say good luck and enjoy the journey)
It's solid. Good place to cut your teeth at. Good name to have on your resume for product as well
Cap1 is big in Finance space, meh in FinTech. but in terms of PM it depends what kind of PM you’re most interested in. Product, do you think they’re really on the cutting edge of AI and development of their app and website? Not really. Program Management? Maybe solid processes, and it’s an established company. You’d probably learn how to run already-scaled cycles, so not huge on fast-paced innovation IMO. Project, pretty straightforward anywhere if you can get on a good team. Cap1 is probably quite bureaucratic. If you’re looking to settle down, sure. If you’re looking to kick off your career mellow, sure. If you’re looking to grind and learn what it takes to build something from nothing, go to a startup you believe in. You’re also less likely to get stuck in the corporate climb at a startup, and shorter tenure is normal.
