Picking mofo over Latham would be a cataclysmic mistake

like

can you explain? like on what basis — totally get that latham is better name

Latham NY does FIG? That surprised me. Latham is a much better platform, its not that fun to be a lateral there though

like

yeah it sounds like more of the same i’d get at my current V5, i don’t want that at all like im leaving BC the people make me want to kms

I’m in the financial service group at MoFo and love it. Doing a mix of regulatory and transactional work. But considering how we separate out our fintech/financial services team from our finance team idk where you would land based on your description (I.e, fig). Happy to chat if you talking about reg or financial services transactional work.

What kind of FIG work?

like

MoFo is probably a better platform in this particular space

like

that’s where i’m leaning

The platform, the clients, the experience, the work, the knowledge management, the technology will all be tremendously better while you are there. And then if/when you leave, you will be coming from a way better jumping off point. It’s not close.

Does anyone know if this is normal? I joined a vault 100 firm in September last year. The firm put me on tier 7. In January I had the associate review and everything was normal. After a couple of weeks, I got the call from the hiring partner telling my bonus and new salary (because of the firm-wide salary increase). I realized I still get paid as a 7 year associate. The partner said because I joined the firm later in the year, it’s normal not to advance in the next year. Is it? Thanks!

I’m a first year associate (almost second year). I work at a national firm and I’m not a litigator. When I started with the firm, I was told I could work out of any office. I don’t know how to make this request.

Foreign LLM student here. I plan to take the NY bar exam in February. I’m thinking of taking a bar prep course (most likely Barbri). They offer two options: the “traditional” course (which lasts around 2.5 months) and an extended 6-month course. The difference in price is substantial – 2.5k for the traditional course vs 6k for the extended one. Any thoughts/recommendations on which one I should take? In case it is helpful, I come from a civil law country. Thanks!
